Tips on Preventing Mold Growth

Here are a few tips to help you avoid the growth of mold in your home:

1.)   Be aware of your home. Watch for water, moisture, or condensation.

2.) Fix plumbing that leaks right when the leak is discovered.

3.)   Be aware of your surroundings. Be sure to watch out for wet spots. Whenever you discover the wet spots or areas with condensation, be sure to fix the issue and stop the moisture from continuing.

4.)   Prevent moisture by raising the temperature and getting rid of the moisture. This includes increasing the temperature or increasing air circulations and repairing leaks.

5.)   Keep a fan running to dry the wet areas. This air flow will help to prevent mold caused by the moisture.

6.)   Dry and clean up any wet spots within 48 hours.

Mold will only grow if there is moisture feeding it. The key to controlling the growth of mold is controlling the moisture.
